NEA Big Read Lakeshore is a month-long community-wide reading program that takes place every November. The Big Read brings the community together around one book and uses this shared experience of reading, discussing and exploring the themes of the book as a springboard to learn from and listen to each other.

Book Club For Boys
The Book Club for Boys is a mother-son book club started in 2015, where we discuss the book, eat book-related food, and do a book-related or inspired activity. Since 2015, we’ve read over 40 books together and have gone on countless adventures, traveling across time and space with the characters we grow to love.

Mother-Daughter Book Club
During the summer of 2013, I started a book club to engage local mothers and daughters from various backgrounds, contexts, experiences, and schools (i.e. public, charter, private, and homeschool). When we started, most of the girls were 10 years old.
Among the participants in our book club are moms and professionals from fields such as law, business, and education. Together we’ve read over 60 books! Our monthly meetings have a typical routine – discussing the book, eating book-related food, and doing a book-related or inspired activity. We have an annual grandmother-mother-daughter meeting and try to do occasional film or other literature-related outings.
